What types of massage do you offer?
At Point Signature Massage, we offer a custom blend of therapeutic and relaxation massage tailored to each client. Pressure is fully adjustable based on your preference: light, medium, firm, or deep, so you get exactly the experience your body needs.
We also offer Table Thai (Thai Yoga) massage, which combines gentle stretching, assisted movements, and targeted pressure to improve flexibility and release tension.
In addition, we offer prenatal massage to safely support expecting mothers and RAPID Neurofascial Reset (RNR) for targeted fascial release and improved mobility.
Even in sessions that aren’t booked as Table Thai, we may incorporate stretching if it supports your goals or intention, always with your consent. Our focus is on helping your body release tension, restore mobility, and feel its best.
What is a therapeutic massage and how is it different from a relaxation massage?
A therapeutic massage is focused on addressing specific physical concerns, such as chronic pain, tension, limited range of motion, or recovery from injury. Techniques target muscles, connective tissue, and other structures to relieve discomfort, improve mobility, and support overall physical health.
A relaxation massage, on the other hand, is designed primarily to help you unwind, reduce stress, and promote a sense of calm. It typically uses gentler techniques and a slower pace, focusing on comfort rather than correcting physical issues.
At Point Signature Massage, I offer a blended approach, combining the benefits of both therapeutic and relaxation massage. This means you don’t have to choose between feeling better physically and feeling relaxed mentally. My sessions work to release tension, reduce pain, and leave you feeling both restored and deeply relaxed. This approach meets clients where they’re at, whether their priority is pain relief, stress relief, or a little of both.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment by clicking on my booking link, which will show the most up-to-date availability. Please note that I allow bookings up to three months in advance. You can also call or text 715-551-5900 to schedule. Due to the nature of my work, there may be a delay in response time, so using the online booking link is the fastest way to secure your spot.
Do I need to bring anything to my appointment?
Typically, no. I provide everything you’ll need for your session. The only time you might need to bring something—or someone to assist you—is if you have mobility challenges and need help with dressing, undressing, or getting on and off the massage table. Due to state regulations in Wisconsin, I am not able to assist with these activities, as they fall outside my scope of practice and training.
What forms of payment do you accept?
I accept cash, credit/debit, and HSA payments. If you’re unsure whether your HSA covers massage, please check with your HSA provider.
I do not accept checks or insurance.
If you would like to submit a claim to your insurance, I can provide a digital invoice and a copy of your SOAP notes (summary of services), but I do not participate in insurance billing or processing claims.
How should I prepare for my massage?
Preparing for your massage is simple. While we do prefer clients arrive freshly showered, we understand that isn’t always realistic with busy daily schedules—please come as clean as possible. Staying well hydrated before your appointment is encouraged, as hydrated muscles and fascia respond better to massage. Eat lightly if needed, arrive a few minutes early, and wear comfortable clothing that’s easy to change out of.
If this is your first massage with Point Signature Massage, please be sure your Health Intake Form is completed prior to your appointment. You should also be prepared for a brief intake conversation. During this time, you’ll be asked if there are any areas you’d like special attention to, any areas you prefer not be massaged, and we may ask for clarification on anything noted in your Health Intake Form if needed. This helps ensure your session is safe, comfortable, and tailored to your goals.
After your massage, continue to hydrate and allow your body time to rest when possible to help extend the benefits of your session.
Are there any conditions that would prevent me from getting a massage?
Yes. There are certain situations where massage may need to be postponed, modified, or avoided altogether for your safety. Acute illnesses such as fever, flu-like symptoms, contagious conditions, or active infections are reasons to reschedule. Massage is also not performed over open wounds, blood clots, severe inflammation, or areas of unexplained pain or swelling.
It’s also important to know that every massage therapist has different qualifications based on their chosen continuing education and training. Because of this, some pre-existing conditions may be declined by one therapist while being safely accepted by another. Conditions such as recent surgeries, cancer, pregnancy, cardiovascular issues, autoimmune disorders, or lymphatic concerns do not automatically prevent massage, but they may require specific training, modifications, or medical clearance.
If you have any concerns, I am more than happy to review your condition before you even book an appointment to ensure your session can be performed safely and appropriately with me. Completing your Health Intake Form thoroughly and honestly helps ensure your massage is both safe and beneficial.
Is massage safe during pregnancy?
Yes, prenatal massage is safe and beneficial when performed by a therapist trained in prenatal care. At Point Signature Massage, we require a minimum of 12 weeks gestation to schedule a prenatal massage. This does not mean massage is unsafe prior to 12 weeks—this is simply a personal preference of the therapist. Early pregnancy carries a higher risk of complications, and we never want a mother to carry the emotional weight of wondering “was it my massage,” even though massage itself is considered safe.
Prenatal sessions are modified for comfort and safety, including the use of a pregnancy bolster for proper positioning and support. Completing your Health Intake Form and communicating any concerns helps ensure your session is safe and supportive.
Are massages silent?
That depends on the client. Some clients prefer a quiet, silent session, while others feel more comfortable talking during their massage. There is no expectation either way. While a session may be mostly quiet, it will not be completely silent—your therapist will check in periodically to ensure the pressure is comfortable and may offer gentle reminders to relax a muscle that you may be unintentionally contracting.
Will the massage be painful?
While massage should never be painful, depending on the goals or purpose of the session, there may be moments of discomfort when working certain areas or stretching—but it should never feel painful. Many clients describe this sensation as “hurts so good.” As your therapist, I encourage this type of therapeutic discomfort, but if you’re holding your breath or wishing I’d stop, that needs to be communicated immediately.
For sessions focused solely on stress management or relaxation, pressure is guided entirely by your comfort and preferences, so these massages are often completely comfortable. Your safety and comfort are always the top priority.
Can I request a specific pressure or areas of focus?
Yes! The more guidance you provide, the better your massage experience will be—after all, this is your massage. That said, it’s perfectly fine if you’re unsure what you want ahead of time. Many clients come in saying, “I don’t have anything specific, but if you find an area that needs attention, please work on that,” and that works just as well. Your session is fully tailored to your needs, whether you know exactly what you want or prefer to let the therapist assess your body.
Are massage oils or lotions used?
At Point Signature Massage, we use Biotone Advanced Therapy Massage Gel for most sessions and Rebel Massage unscented body butter for very deep work. Due to potential allergens and laundering needs, we do not permit clients to provide their own products. This ensures a safe, comfortable, and hygienic experience for everyone.
How will I feel after my massage?
How you feel after a massage can vary widely from person to person. Some clients leave feeling deeply relaxed and a bit “foggy-minded,” a state I affectionately call “massage drunk.” Others may feel energized and ready to take on the day. Depending on the session and its goals, you might also feel some mild tenderness, similar to what you’d experience after an intense workout. Everyone’s response is unique, and it can even vary from one session to the next.
How often should I get a massage for pain relief or self-care?
The short answer: most clients find every 3–6 weeks to be beneficial. However, this can vary depending on factors like recent injuries, daily body mechanics, and your lifestyle. At no point will you be pressured into more sessions than you’re comfortable with. There’s no required commitment to a set number of visits or a specific schedule. I can offer guidance and suggestions, but you are always in control of when and how often you schedule your sessions.
Some clients prefer to come in only for special occasions or as a treat. This is also perfectly normal and an acceptable practice with Point Signature Massage.
Can massage help with headaches, tech-neck or shoulder tension?
Massage can be very helpful for easing tension in the neck, shoulders, and head, and many clients notice relief from headaches or tech-related tightness. Everyone’s body responds differently, so it would be irresponsible to guarantee results. That said, massage works to relax muscles, improve circulation, and release built-up tension. Each session is tailored to your needs to give you the best chance of relief.
Should I drink water or take special care after my massage?
Yes! Drinking water after a massage is recommended to help keep your body hydrated and support overall recovery. Taking it easy for the rest of the day can help your body fully enjoy the benefits of your session. Gentle movement or stretching afterward can help maintain mobility and extend the feeling of relief and relaxation from your massage.
